Turkey, which is the world’s top exporter of flour, attracted great interest from visitors at “WOFEX Expo” in which she participated for the fourth time this year.
WOFEX-World Food Expo 2016 organized for the 16th time this year between 03-06 August 2016 in Manila city of the Philippines saw participation of many firms operating in food sector from particularly such countries as Turkey, USA, Australia, China, Indonesia, Philippines, South Korea, Pakistan, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam and Ukraine.
Being the most important food expo in the Philippines, WOFEX was attended by Turkish Flour Yeast and Ingredients Promotion Group (TFYI) together with 5 wheat flour exporter firms and 1 starch exporter firm which export products coming under the field of activity of the Promotion Group and to which free stand area was allocated by TFYI. In addition, a Turkish firm exporting pasta participated individually in the expo.
At TFYI info stand, the visitors were furnished with cookbooks in English, containing recipes of sweet and salty bakery products and catalogues introducing the sector. In addition, kitchen aprons, bags and baker’s sets carrying the name and logo of the Promotion Group were distributed throughout the expo.
The shows performed by the sand animation artist Mr. Veysel Çelikdemir using flour and sand attracted great attention from the visitors. Chef Cook Emin Aydemir prepared and served bakery products such as “kurabiye”, “börek”, “poğaça”, etc. to the visitors, showing off his art.
Concurrently, TFYI Chairman Mr. Turgay ÜNLÜ and TFYI Director Mr. Adnan HEKİMOĞLU paid a visit to Turkish Ambassadress to Manila Ms. Esra CANKORUR at her office.
On 4 August 2016, a dinner given by TFYI brought together media members from 8 major media organization of the Philippines, including the journalists hosted twice in Turkey in the year 2014. At the dinner attended by Turkish Ambassadress to Manila Ms. Esra CANKORUR and TFYI Chairman Mr. Turgay ÜNLÜ, detailed information was given by the Ambassadress about the recent political developments in Turkey, and information on Turkey’s flour exports to the Philippines was also provided. The dinner was attended also by the Philippine importers importing wheat flour from Turkey.
On 6 August 2016, Turkish Ambassadress to Manila Ms. Esra CANKORUR gave a lunch attended by prominent names of Philippine business world, including Mr. George T. BARCELON, President of Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Mr. Ernesto CHUA, Chairman of Philippine-Turkish Business Council. The lunch was attended by TFYI Chairman Mr. Turgay ÜNLÜ, TFYI Vice Chairman Mr. Nurettin DEMİRPOLAT, and TFYI Directors Mr. Adnan HEKİMOĞLU and Mr. Orhan İLHAN as well.
